Service Description

With over 15 years of working with Canadian Armed Forces families, I've seen how families can often sacrifice their own well-being in relation to the stress of the job. Now I focus on supporting individuals, couples and kids impacted by operational stress related to work as a first-responder, military or veteran. My focus is on building the strengths of each family, by normalizing their experiences and offer tools that are practical for each family. Specifically, I support families in how to talk to their child about mental health issues of their parent, working through difficult feelings like anger, and creating hope. Families are doing the best they can with the resources they have. I believe having a connection with the right "helper" is the first step. I support all clients within a family systems approach so we can work together from where YOU are and find ways together to support your family to THRIVE. There is a unique culture within public safety personnel that I believe can become a barrier for families to reach out for support. I advocate for voices of families to be heard and recognized as requiring mental health support from service providers who truly understand the unique culture of military, veteran and first-responders.
